Course Objectives The aim of this course is to inform the student about the definition of organic chemistry and the linkages of organic compounds, reactions and different functional groups.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • will be able to describe hydrocarbons and their main organic reaction mechanisms
  • will be able to describe alkenes, alkynes and aromatic structures
  • will be able to explain basic properties of alcohol and phenol compounds
  • will be able to explain basic properties of ether and epoxide compounds
  • will be able to describe the basic properties of amine compounds
  • will be able to classify aldehydes and ketones
  • will be able to explain chemical bonding
  • will be able to analyze carboxylic acid and its derivatives
Course Description This course includes the definition and classification of organic chemistry, hydrocarbons, organic reaction mechanisms, aromaticity, alkenes, alkynes, alcohols, ethers, epoxides, amines and carbonyl compounds.
